Every now and then I run across something that catches my eye and causes me to ponder.  This statement is one of them… God places many of His blessings outside of our comfort zone and then asks us to come get them…  -Kent Crockett, The 911 Handbook

Too many of us approach God with the idea of “give me” with no expectation of what the cost is.  I want what You offer but don’t ask too much of me.  Jesus taught in a parable about a man who would build without estimating the costs, and of a king who would go to war with a enemy without determining the possibilities of victory or defeat.  Many times in our Christian walk we face trials and tribulations of various sorts and we retreat into our comfort zones and fail to realize in so doing we miss out on many of the blessings that god has to offer us.  There is a point, unknown to us, where our retreats will eventually take us away from the fellowship we have with God in the reconciliation through His Son.  In short we reject the blessing of our own salvation simply because we cannot leave our areas of comfort.

Brothers and sisters, when faced with trials, tribulations, and difficult times don’t run and hide.  Strive even more to seek God’s blessings wherever they may be.  Remember the words of Peter chapter one verses 6 through 9…

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, {being} more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;        and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.  (NASB)

Did you see that?  Our faith, our most precious possession, is perishable.  How tragic it would be if after beginning our walk of faith we allow it to perish because we can’t find it within ourselves to leave our comfort zones.  Won’t you strive for the greatest comfort zone of all?  Won’t you strive for a home with our eternal God and heavenly Father?
