Ok, we sometimes miss the message sent because it wasn’t the one intended!!  Isn’t that the way it is with communication all too often in our lives?!  That happened recently in our weekly bulletin and it wasn’t even brought to my attention by another, but by my own observation.

We have a section called “Coming Events” that keeps us abreast of the regularly scheduled activities as well as those special events that come up.  As a means of prompting self evaluation and preparation I included a new activity at the end of the list simply referred to as “The Second Coming of Christ!! Are you prepared?”  You may be wondering about the events listed prior.  They included a fellowship dinner and business meeting as well as the upcoming Father’s Day weekend.  As I casually glanced at this schedule of events it occurred to me that the order of events was slightly out of kilter with the priorities I had recently spoken of with regard to our relationship with God.

With one casual glance I realized that I had placed common every day events to prepare for above the need to be prepared for Christ’s second coming!  While that was not my intention, it certainly could have been a subtle message to others to not concern themselves as much with that preparation as with the other events.  Friends, we need to continually be aware of the things that would take undue priority in our lives and put them where they ought to be.

Are you prepared for or preparing for Christ’s second coming?  In John’s Revelation, Jesus Himself spoke the words ‘Remember therefore what you have received and heard; and keep {it,} and repent. If therefore you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.’ Rev 3:3 (NASB).  Don’t let misplaced priorities take away your opportunity for eternal life.  Turn to God now.
