If you watch any TV you’ve seen them.  The scene unfolds as some drama is being played out, when closing out the scene the individual exclaims “But I’ve got great news!  I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.”  Just as this line has little to do with the dramatic scene of the commercial, there are many times we present the idea of having great news to our friends and family only to present something of a temporal nature or even that is of little interest to them?  As children of God we ought to be sharing the greatest news that has ever hit planet Earth, but are we doing that?

This past week we were blessed to have with us one of Clinton’s native son’s, Brother Kyle Meyers.  He has spent the last year in China, teaching both, English at a university and about Jesus to those who hunger and thirst after righteousness.  As he shared his wonderful experiences I was reminded of the purpose of each one who has claimed adoption as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.  We have accepted responsibility for the mission that is inherent to Christianity and that is to seek and save the lost just as the One whom we are disciples of did.

Throughout the Bible we read of God’s people focused on their mission.  Noah, Moses, the prophets, the apostles and ultimately those who continue the commission given the Christ’s disciples in Matthew 28:19.  Brothers and sisters how serious are you taking your mission?  As part of the body of Christ, the church, it is incumbent upon you to fulfill your function in the body’s mission of seeking and saving the lost.  Paul said this of the Gospel message in 1 Corinthians 15:2, “          by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.”  (NAS)   I pray that our belief is not in vain and that we will set our hearts and minds on the mission set before us and proclaim to the world that Jesus is their Savior as well as yours and mine!!
